Investment Management Regulatory Update, Q1 2012

In the first quarter of 2012 the FSA published its Retail Conduct Risk Outlook highlighting key risks for different types of firms including asset managers the retail sector. There were also several updates on forthcoming regulation, including numerous updates in the areas of EMIR and Short-Selling Regulation as well as discussion papers relating to AIFMD implementation. UK Investment Managers were also impacted by the release of proposed FATCA regulations from the US.

    In the closing quarter of 2011 there continued to be a number of regulatory developments affecting UK Investment Management firms from both Europe and the UK.
