Background
Welcome to the new look edition of the Building Society Update for 2013. Our annual publication aimed at professionals from building societies and other retail financial services has been updated to give a snapshot of the current issues affecting building societies.
This year’s issue includes our thoughts on how the market can maintain momentum in the year ahead following a successful 2012. Hot topics covered in this issue include; the current mortgage market and regulatory landscape; the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA) and how building societies can prepare for its implementation; and Internal Audit and its effectiveness within the building society sector.
