In recent years the infrastructure fund industry has seen rapid growth in terms of the number of funds established, the number of transactions completed, and the value of such transactions. Despite strong growth in the market, there has been little research or analysis of current and future industry trends.
This report collates our research findings and commentary, looking specifically at:
- merger and acquisition (M&A) activity in the infrastructure asset market – between the period January 2003 and July 2007 – by infrastructure funds, private equity (PE) funds, and other institutional purchasers of infrastructure assets; and
- a survey of leading infrastructure funds and fund managers in which participants were questioned on a variety of subjects including fund focus on different geographies and asset types, and fund attitudes towards other topical issues such as the impact of current credit market conditions both in the short and medium-term. Out of 25 funds and fund managers invited to participate in the survey, 18 responded.
