Background
It has been tweleve years since Nigel Turnbull produced his report on 'Internal Control: Guidance for Directors on the Combined Code' which set out the need to effectively manage risks. Whilst being aimed at listed companies, the combined code was widely adopted across all sectors. Despite significant investment in improving the management of risk, many charities are still finding it difficult to gain business buy-in to risk management as an integral part of its decision making. Many charities have now reaced a plateau in the maturity of their risk management efforts.
