Programme Benefits

Benefits to students

The Deloitte Employability course has a tangible lasting impact on trainers and students.
The programme is deliberately designed to sit alongside students vocational courses and participants on the employability course range from bricklayers to hairdressers to IT students.

The programme delivers tangible results:

  • 89% of students who completed a Deloitte course went on to full-time employment or full-time education six months after course completion
  • Average retention rates for the course are 82%, compared to 74% achieved on similar course nationwide.

“The big thing it gave me was the confidence to believe that I could make a real contribution to any organisation. Without the Employability Skills training, I’m sure I’d never have managed to secure such an interesting and rewarding job with such a major UK employer.”

Employee engagement

As part of the initiative participating Colleges have the option of utilising Deloitte volunteers to deliver a number of skills sessions to students on the employability course.

To date more than 600 Deloitte volunteers have delivered skills workshops to students.

This supports development of business-critical skills such as communication, leadership, presentations & teamwork; as they deliver specific workshop sessions on a range of employability skills as part of every course, as well as helping raise the aspirations of students.

“The employability initiative is a challenging and hugely rewarding volunteering scheme. Personally, transferring my presentation skills from the boardroom to the classroom was no simple task and it has certainly helped my own personal development.”

It is the most significant example of business engagement in the development and accreditation of employability skills that I am aware of and is making a vital contribution to ensuring young people gain sustainable employment and contribute to economic growth.”
