Deloitte Access

In partnership with Teach First

Deloitte is working with Teach First to provide a holistic support package to schools, giving pupils from low income communities a greater understanding of the opportunities available to them beyond education, whilst equipping them with the skills they need to succeed in the workplace.

Deloitte AccessDeloitte Access will use the firm’s people to support over 1,000 students from Teach First schools as they develop the skills needed to access the best possible opportunities after their education. Working in partnership across 11 Teach First schools, we are:

  • Developing bespoke packages of volunteer-led support for the schools we work with - Supporting students, teachers and the school as an organisation
  • Sponsoring students to participate in Teach First’s award-winning Higher Education Access Programme for Schools (HEAPS) - HEAPS pairs gifted and talented A Level students from low-income backgrounds with a mentor, whilst giving them the opportunity to participate in university visits including a residential Easter School at the University of Cambridge. As well as sponsoring 60 student places, the firm is also providing Deloitte mentors to work with these students
  • Working with Teach First to develop a new ‘Access to Employment’ element to the HEAPS programme - Designed to support students in accessing competitive careers, Access to Employment will form part of the HEAPS initiative across all participating Teach First schools, reaching over 800 students across the country.

One example of an activity delivered with some of the Deloitte Access schools is our TMT Predictions Challenge.  A key challenge for organisations in the Tech, Media & Telco industries is how they should develop the next generation of young people, with the appropriate skills and interest, to work in the sector. We invited sixth form students from three Deloitte Access schools into our offices to present their responses to these challenges. Deloitte volunteer coaches supported the students to develop their ideas and hone their presentation skills before the students pitched their idea to a panel of clients.”
