Charity Work

We enjoy being an outstanding corporate citizen

We see our responsibility towards the general public as an integral part of business. Therefore, Deloitte provides stable financial, physical or professional assistance to many charity or public projects in the Czech Republic.

Over the years, we have provided support to a number of charities and community projects in the Czech Republic. Following our Corporate social responsibility strategy, we have identified two community investment opportunities where our contribution can make a real difference.

Our partners have agreed to distribute the financial funds donated in the financial year 2012 to three groups of socially-disadvantaged citizens: providing access to education to young disabled students, helping seniors and supporting children from famine-stricken Somalia.

In this fiscal year, we are supporting the following projects:

Deloitte Charity Day: We helped seniors and young talented students of music

The third Deloitte Charity Day was held on 1 December at the Nile House premises.

In total, Deloitte collected CZK 12,000 from the sale of Belgic pralines donated to us by Leonidas and chocolate CDs produced under the Choco Music programme as part of the Struny Podzimu music festival. A certain amount of the proceeds from the sale of pralines will be donated to support the Vendula hospice for seniors and disabled citizens; the proceeds from the sale of Choco Music will help young talented students of music in their studies abroad.

Study Abroad Opportunity for Handicapped Students

In co-operation with the Economic University in Prague, Deloitte has organised a tender for a half-year scholarship abroad for disabled students.

In previous years, we have helped disabled students from the Technical University of Liberec, Masaryk University in Brno and visually-impaired students who won a tender organised by Deloitte and the Světluška foundation. Both students went to study in Germany.

Life 90 Foundation

The donation will be used to purchase 16 AREION monitoring systems. Thanks to the AREION system, seniors will be able to stay for as long as possible in the comforting environment of their homes.

The cheque with the amount will be handed over to Jan Lorman, director of the foundation, by Deloitte OMP Josef Kotrba, on the occasion of International Seniors Day at the National Theatre on 1 October 2011.

The solidarity of our employees

The proceeds from the employee collection that we organised during September 2011 will be distributed among four organisations as follows: Život 90 (senior citizens), UNICEF (children from famine-stricken countries), Vendula (a hospice for seniors and disabled citizens) and the Economic University in Prague (disabled students).

Impact Day or a Day Off for Charity

On 3 July 2011, the 4th annual Impact Day organised by Deloitte took place. Fifty-one employees from Prague, Brno and Ostrava took part. They devoted one working day to provide physical help for a good cause.

Realised projects:

  • Blood drive
  • Gardening and painting of the interiors at the Sue Ryder home
  • Cleaning at the Narovinu human rights centre
  • Help at the Lety orphanage in Dobřichovice
  • Painting the children's playground of the municipal hospital in Ostrava
  • Cleaning of the exterior and interior of the Kociánka primary school and kindergarten in Brno
  • Work at the Toulcův dvůr farm in Prague
  • Garden work at the kindergarten in Jarov, Prague

We also support or have supported the following projects:

Euromanager

Deloitte is one of general partners of the project Global Management Challenge Euromanager. This project is an international competition of teams focused on developing management abilities, where groups of students, university graduates and professionals compete in managing virtual companies based on realistic simulation of the business environment in the fields of marketing, production, human resources, procurement and finance.

Medela Project

We provide audits to Projekt Medela free of charge. This project is one of the activities of the Asante Kenya charity fund founded by Lejla Abbasová in 2006. The project goal is to improve the lives of disadvantaged children. The project cooperates with specific projects of non-profit organizations, that are located each on a different continent.
