Deloitte Tax Championship 2012
| The Deloitte Tax Championship is a competition organized by Deloitte Tax Research Foundation for university students in Greater China. It comprises two parts: a case study competition and an essay competition. The first case study competition was held in 2004 while the essay competition was introduced in 2006. The number of participants has increased every year since its inception. Last year, the competition attracted more than 200 students from 62 top universities in 28 Chinese cities. |
Case study competition
The case study competition consists of two sections: case study and quiz. The case study section involves identifying issues and opportunities in a simulated business situation and providing solutions to the issues. In the quiz section, teams answer questions on tax issues. Teams that made it through the first rounds to the national competition present their solutions before a panel of judges. The enrolment deadline for the case study competition is 1 June 2012.
Essay competition
Students are invited to write an essay in Simplified Chinese on one of the themes from 2010 to 2012 competitions:
- Enhancing the transfer pricing system in the PRC (Year 2012)
- Exploring new amendments to the PRC Tax Collection and Administration Law (Year 2012)
- Considerations on tax collection and exchange of information in the international arena (Year 2012)
- Outbound investment strategy of PRC companies from the tax perspective (Year 2011)
- Broadening the scope of PRC Value-added Tax (Year 2011)
- China taxes indirect transfer of PRC company by non-resident (Year 2011)
- PRC tax administration of non-residents: current situation and challenges (Year 2010)
- Tax management for large enterprises: theory and practic e(Year 2010)
Students can also submit essays on any other PRC tax hot topics. The submission deadline is 16 July 2012. To learn more about the essay competition, please follow the link from the menu on the right.
