We invite you to join the next workshop in the Deloitte INED Series which will be held on 28 May 2013. It will focus on giving straightforward and non-legalistic guidance to INEDs on how to navigate the myriad of recent and upcoming legislation that deals with directors' liability.
In earlier workshops we have covered various aspects of recent and upcoming legislation. On May 28, our special guest speaker, Mr. Raphael Ding, Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants (the "HKICPA"), will provide more detailed guidance on how INEDs should act when all these are brought together – which they will be in the coming year – or risk being liable to fines and even imprisonment.
Raphael Ding was appointed Chief Executive and Registrar of the HKICPA in July 2012 and has over 27 years' experience in the accountancy profession. He was a member of the HKICPA Council from 2007 to 2012 and has served on many HKICPA committees including as Chairman of the Ethics Committee and the Professional Standards Monitoring Committee. He was also a member of the Financial Reporting Review Panel of the Financial Reporting Council. Mr. Ding has direct experience on both sides of the equation - as an INED and a director, and as the chair of a number of relevant committees overseeing ethics, best practices and professional discipline.
