"As one of the leading professional services firms, we feel obliged to support talent development for the tax industry. Since its inception, around 2,300 students have participated in the Deloitte Tax Championship competition, a platform for them to apply text-book knowledge into simulated business cases and to meet with their other peers in the Greater China region for cultural and academic exchange," said Ms. Vivian Jiang, Country Tax Leader, Deloitte China.

"Supporting learning and skills building, an integral component of our firm's corporate social responsibility commitment, is in sync with the mission of the Deloitte Tax Championship to promote tertiary tax education in the region. According to teachers and students, the Deloitte Tax Championship is more than just a competition, but it provides valuable input to the shaping of future tax curriculum alongside the rapid economic integration in Greater China," added Ms. Jiang.

Ms. Maria Liang, Chairlady of the Deloitte Tax Championship said, "we are now in a constantly changing tax regulatory environment, and the past few years have witnessed the substantive changes in tax regulations, both regionally and globally. We believe there will be a stronger demand for tax professionals to provide solutions in this increasingly complex tax environment. Our competition seeks to help student understand the importance of tax strategy in a company's business model and equip themselves with the necessary tax knowledge."

Launched in 2004, the Deloitte Tax Championship is a pivotal initiative of Shanghai Deloitte Tax Ltd. and the Deloitte Tax Research Foundation, which promotes education, research and innovation in the field of taxation by supporting an array of national and local programs. The competition aims at facilitating the development of the tax education, nurturing future talent for the profession, and promoting the interest in tax studies.
