Ski lift companies are the back bone of ski resorts. Important in their own right (they employ almost 3,000 yearround employees and 5,000-5,800 seasonal employees) they also act as a proxy for the wider resort environment. This review illuminates Swiss ski resorts through an accurate description of ski lift companies and an understanding of the opportunities and challenges they face.
