Investigation in the luxury goods sector

After an internal audit investigation, a Swiss luxury watch company discovered suspicious unexplained differences in precious stones inventories. They approached us and asked for our support to identify the origin of the suspected fraud.

Our forensic and dispute services team recently investigated the multi-million dollar precious metal inventory differences for a Swiss luxury watch company. We analysed the internal supply chain and logistics processes as well as internal controls regarding subcontracting, logistics and production planning, and scrap and work-in-progress processing.

Our review also included an investigation into the accounting system and a substantial number of inventory transactions in order to identify in which of the 220 physical and logical inventory locations most of the inventory shrinkage occurred.

Our findings were presented to the Audit Committee and the Head of Internal Audit.
