Public sector challenges: Managing in volatile times

A special edition Deloitte Canada Insights podcast

Public sector

Given the magnitude of the current global financial crisis and the impact of the U.S. downturn, there are significant implications for Canada. As a result, Canadians have heightened expectations of action on the part of the public sector and are looking to government to do more to secure the country’s fiscal stability. Governments must now determine the most realistic course of action and where their policies will have the most significant impact — facing execution challenges head-on and acting in the best interests of the public.

In this third edition of our “Managing in volatile times” podcast series, we examine the role of the public sector during the current economic downturn. The Honourable Pierre S. Pettigrew, Deloitte’s executive advisor on international affairs, and Paul Macmillan, national leader of Deloitte’s Public Sector practice, offer their perspectives in this edition of our “Managing in volatile times” series.
