The future of Quebec’s manufacturing industry: Working together for a better futureA series of roadshow events on the future of manufacturing in Quebec |

The future of Quebec’s manufacturing sector hinges on a number of issues: manufacturers face major challenges with regards to access to capital, to markets and to talent, and the rising value of the Canadian dollar is a significant hurdle for exporters.
Deloitte’s new manufacturing roadshow entitled Acting together for a prosperous future will shed light on the opportunities facing the manufacturing sector, celebrate its champions’ achievements and mobilize all stakeholders to ensure sustained growth in this crucial economic sector.
Many Quebec manufacturers are world leaders in their fields. This includes smaller, high-performing but less well-known players as well as the giants. According to Deloitte and its partners, manufacturing creates more wealth than any other sector.
After many challenging years that have tested Quebec manufacturers’ will to compete, new opportunities are finally beginning to emerge. Rising Chinese wages and transportation costs – among other factors – have led manufacturing companies to relocate some of their plants to the United States and Canada. With this reshoring of manufacturing investment to North America, Quebec manufacturers must position themselves to benefit from the trend.
Industrial policy being prepared by the Quebec government will provide invaluable tools to help companies seize the opportunities that lie ahead and will have a major impact on the competitiveness of Quebec manufacturers.
