Meet Roberta J. Fox

President & Senior Partner, Fox Group Telecom Consulting, Div. of Roberta Fox Group Inc.

Roberta J. FoxWhen did you work for Deloitte, and what did you do?
From 1996 to 1999, I worked with the Technology, Media & Telecommunications practice, as part of the networking and e-commerce service line.  I was a senior manager, based out of the Toronto office.

What was the highlight of your time with Deloitte?
Working with international associates on technology projects.  Also working with value based consultants on market valuations for tech sector clients.

Which organization did you join after you left Deloitte?
After Deloitte, I joined AT&T Solutions, as Director of Consulting & Integration.

What do you do now?
I formed the Fox Group in March 2000 as boutique consulting and analysis firm for the telecom industry.  In 2008, I expanded Fox Group to include a Publishing/Media Division.  We publish a biweekly newsletter called the Telecom Dispatch.

Earlier this year Roberta was featured on CBC Business Show "Fortune Hunters".

What’s the best part of your current job?
One of the best things about my job is the fact that I’ve been able to build and run my own firm in a way that has life balance, delivers value and is enjoyable to me.  Another great thing is working with business alliance partners to co-sell and subcontract to work on a variety of challenging client engagements.  Finally, I like the fact that I can develop a structure within Fox Group that allows experienced professionals to work together in a collaborative manner, whether full or part time, doing work that “makes a difference.”

What’s the secret of your success?
One of the secrets of my success is the ability to leverage my entrepreneurial background and experience in a family-owned business.  Secondly, I’m able to draw from my corporate experience, expertise and creativity in working with our industry and end-user clients as consultants.  Lastly, I’ve developed the ability to adapt business to markets, and I’ve created a flexible work environment to attract and retain our experienced professionals.

Why did you join the Toronto Consulting Alumni group?
To keep in touch with the firm and professionals that I respect and enjoyed working with.

What book are you currently reading?
All The Weyrs Of Pern by Anne McCaffrey

What’s on your iPod?
I have blues-oriented music on my BlackBerry, but I don’t use my iPod.
