Building momentum for gender diversity

One way that we champion women in the workplace is by partnering with organizations that celebrate women’s successes. Deloitte is proud to be the national title sponsor of the  Women of Influence  Luncheon Series, which provides a forum for high-profile Canadian women in business to share advice and inspiration.  Meet the speakers  who are scheduled in major Canadian cities, and connect with the best and brightest business women.

We also established the Deloitte Start-Up Award, which recognizes women’s successes in the early stages of setting up a business, as part of the  RBC Canadian Woman Entrepreneur Awards .

Deloitte is a member of  Catalyst , an organization focused on understanding and expanding diversity in the workplace. Our chairman is a member of Catalyst’s board, and our people are often invited to share their opinions and insights for Catalyst research – such as the 2007 study Career Advancement in Corporate Canada: A Focus on Visible Minorities — Workplace Fit and Stereotyping.

Building momentum for gender diversity
Deloitte’s National Diversity Council leverages the momentum of internal local groups to establish a formal cross-country web of people networks to support women. For example, Canadian Women’s Initiative (CanWIN) organizes events that address workplace gender topics. CanWIN is complemented by programs such as:

  • Women Mentoring Women, designed to improve the presence, retention and advancement of women in our firm
  • Career Moms, which provides networking and information sharing for female professionals who are also mothers
