Deloitte Bermuda practice

The firm is lead by six principals in Bermuda. Below is a short description of each principal's specialization and length of time at the firm.

 

John Johnston
John is the CEO for the Bermuda and Caribbean Cluster (the "CBC") of Deloitte, a group of independent Deloitte firms in eight countries, and is also the Office Managing Principal in Bermuda.  He serves clients in the insurance and reinsurance industry, primarily providing audit services but also leads Tax and Actuarial Services in Bermuda.  John represents the CBC on the Americas Region Executive Committee of Deloitte, has previously been the Regulatory Readiness Partner for the Bermuda firm, and has served as the Professional Practice Director and the partner responsible for training in the Bermuda firm.  He is a recognized insurance and reinsurance industry leader in Bermuda, having led a number of audits and IPO's for some of Bermuda's most prominent publicly traded companies

Mark Baumgartner
Mark has been with Deloitte Bermuda since 1998 becoming a partner in 2007. Mark leads the Alternative Investment Group and Secondment Services Group. He specializes in assurance services for the Alternative Investment Group, including SAS 70 reports, and has deep experience with alternative investment structures including hedge funds, feeder funds, fund of funds, side pockets and the financial instruments, including derivatives, in which they invest.

Anna Burns
Anna has been with Deloitte Bermuda since 2003 and became a partner in 2012.  She specializes in Assurance Services for reinsurers, particularly SEC registrants, as well as Alternative Investments Funds.

 

 
Muhammad Khan
Muhammad has over 15 years of experience in public accounting with specialization in reinsurance industry. He is serving a wide array of assurance clients from SEC insurance registrants to captive reinsurance companies. In addition to assurance, Muhammad has extensive experience in merger and acquisition transactions, due diligence and other advisory services. 

Stephen Kuzyk
Stephen has been with Deloitte Bermuda since 1999 and a partner since 2006. He leads the Consulting and Enterprise Risk Services (ERS) practices. Stephen is also a leader in the reinsurance industry in Bermuda and is responsible for the audit engagements of two publicly traded reinsurers, working closely with our US firm. Stephen also leads our practice in the area of internal audit for large reinsurers. In his spare time, Stephen is the Chairman of Kaleidoscope Arts Foundation.
Mark Smith
Mark has been with Deloitte Bermuda since 1983 and as a partner since 1988. He leads the Financial Advisory practice and is responsible for our Information Technology department. He mainly specializes in Assurance Services – Insurance, reinsurance and insolvency services, as well as Consulting services. Mark is a Director of the Bermuda Monetary Authority (BMA).
