Over the past decade performance management has strongly evolved and managed to secure a strong position inmany companies. The dynamic context in which organisations operate, drive leaders to question the performance system of their organisation. Leaders frequently turn to us asking: “How come we do not get the most out of our performance management? How can we improve?”. Actually, that would be the same thing as a musician asking: “How do I get a beautiful melody?”. From all the questions we receive, we learned that in essence it comes down to one crucial question: “What is the intended effect?”. Our ground rule is: to know the best composition for performance management, look at the effects you see on your audience.
