First wave - Day 3 - How to deliver value
22.09.2010 - Deloitte Innovation Fast Track
It was very quiet during the Vlerick session on value delivery this morning. While all participants where very focused on how they would present their idea to Olivier and Gert in the afternoon, they got a strong reminder that the proof of the pudding is in the eating. Value delivery is crucial for innovation because without successful implementation all you are left with is good idea, nothing more.
So yet again our innovators had to adjust their story in order to convince our firm’s leadership of their idea and that they are the right person to bring it to fruition. A couple of last minute changes to their business model later and they were ready for their first big test, the confrontation with the leadership.
Steven, Erik and Bruno (Payment Services) bravely volunteered to be the first to bite the bullet … little did they know that Olivier happens to have quit some extensive knowledge on the subject with some very though questions as a result. The tone was set, but the same goes for the performance of all of our innovators as they showed their worth during the cross examination. Olivier and Gert played their role brilliantly, not just by asking the painful questions but also by giving our participants their insights and advise on the matter. I think they will agree that we saw some very eager and motivated people with great ideas today and I am sure we caught a glimpse of some real innovation champions!
Keeping momentum is important in innovation, so very soon they will have to pitch their service-to-be to their respective management committee or our ExCo. We will of course keep challenging these team throughout the innovation funnel straight to the market. They most certainly set the bar high, so the participants of our next Fast Tracks will have to live up to some high expectations. By the way, that next innovator could be you, just enter your ideas into our innovation portal and we will make sure our firms leadership gets to see it!
