First wave - Day 2 - How to capture value
21.09.2010 - Deloitte Innovation Fast Track
Our innovators have found their spirits again after they got hammered yesterday without getting the opportunity to rebuttal. Today is different because after the theory on ’how to capture value’ in the morning most of the day was reserved for working in breakouts to fine-tune the service offerings. As we speak our teams are showing the results of the day in a 15 minute presentation … that took often 30 minutes to present!
Then again, of course we do know it is not an easy task to have a completed business plan built in just three days and the teams feel the pressure, certainly because they will have to present their idea tomorrow to the leadership of our firm. Clients & Markets leader, Olivier de Groote and SGI Innovation leader Gert Vanhees will attend the closing presentations of this fast track event in order to support the innovators and challenge the plans. Even Rik, our CEO, is calling me on a daily basis to get feedback on the progress of the ideas and to be reassured that the ideas stand through the program.
On Thursday, some of the teams will have to ‘elevator pitch’ their plan on a partner, director, manager meeting in Maastricht. But I have great confidence in these teams. I have seen the plans growing in this short time frame and, after all, as a consultant you are used to deliver in the most ridiculous timeframe. So if our clients expect miracles, we must too. Innovation is 5% inspiration and 95% transpiration to plagiarize a famous German scientist.
