Continued low confidence in politics

Deloitte Belgian CFO Survey Q4-2010

After the elections in June, the survey of Q2 marked a significant increase in the CFOs confidence in the financial and economic policy making. Two quarters later and still without a government, the confidence in the domestic politics has plummeted in Q3 and this trend continues in Q4.

Almost half of CFOs report the ongoing political uncertainty has a negative impact on their business.

For half of the CFOs the Belgian authorities have additional scope to stimulate the economy. For CFOs, government should focus on the management of the public deficit, on measures oriented to the labour market and on increasing the active labour forces.
