Our client is a US global leader of consumer goods. As a part of the company’s expansion strategy, Fantus Location Strategies, a service line of the Real Estate department of Deloitte, was engaged to identify prime locations for manufacturing operations and to determine the optimal operational structure (vendor based strategy versus Greenfield/Brownfield option) in both short and long term.
The manufacturing facility was aimed at supporting the consumer goods market growth in Western Europe and at optimizing the company’s presence in Europe. A vast search area including Central & Eastern Europe (27 countries) and North Africa (5 countries) was thoroughly assessed in order to distil candidate locations offering an optimal combination of operational conditions and cost structures. The findings of our initial analysis lead to a location due diligence of three Eastern European Countries which constituted a cornerstone for the location decision in areas the company had not contemplated before our involvement.
