In the area of Investment Products and Asset Management, the Belgian FSMA published its communication on “unnecessary complex structured products” (see also our Regulatory Radar Newsflash of 21 June 2011).
The European Commission launched its consultation on venture capital funds outlining what could be the broad contours of a European passport that would be made available to venture capital funds so that they would be able to raise capital freely throughout the EU from professional investors and invest in innovative SMEs.
In relation to tax, the RS Notice 2011-34 on implementation of the US Foreign Accounts Tax Compliance Act (FATCA) has been commented on in depth by sector associations.
