Welcome to Deloitte Belgium’s fourth annual report. The report is an important part of our ongoing, transparent communication to our many stakeholders.
In 2009, our performance remained strong in the face of the difficult economic conditions, as we continued to focus on helping our clients both to cope with immediate challenges and to prepare for the eventual upturn. As a people business, attracting and retaining the right people remains as high a priority as ever. We also laid the foundations for our 2010 launch of a roadmap to embed innovation in our firm.
We entered 2009 in a prudently optimistic mood. That balanced approach was appropriate – while some areas of our business were severely affected by the economic crisis, others were in high demand. As we approach 2010, more signs of economic recovery are emerging, giving us even more reason to remain optimistic and confident about the future for our firm and its many stakeholders.
