Day 2 - Baguettes, ethics and heightsCycling Event 2012 - South Andalusia |
Details
From: Roquetas de Mar
To: Cadix
Distance: 155 km
Weather: Sunny, no wind, 35°C
We planned to leave at 8:30; we left at 8:45. Are we adjusting to local traditions or are we just getting lazy? Only the future will tell.
One of our companions Rik, brought his wife Annick with him. When we asked her on Sunday whether she would join us on the bikes, she said: “that will depend on the level”. She has been on her bike yesterday and today. Draw your own conclusions.
We are here with Serge Baguet, former Belgian Champion and winner of a stage in de Tour de France, who runs the Baguet Cycle Center in Spain. Guess what we got for lunch yesterday and today? Indeed baguettes; baguettes with eggs, baguettes with schnitzels, baguettes with chorizo, baguettes with bacon, baguettes with cheese,… but always baguettes. Really looking forward to lunch tomorrow. Surprise us mister Baguet.
Let’s continue our word games. As Deloitters, ethics is always top of mind. Since two days it became even more important for us, but we spell it slightly differently Etixx (for those that don’t understand this silly joke, go to www.etixxsport.com)
Today our brave warriors conquered the Puerto de La Ragua, height 2.000 meters. While all reached the top there was a slight difference in timing (of about 1 hour and 30 minutes).
