Like in every important tour, our bikers enjoyed a day of rest today. At least most of them did, because our young bulls (Donald and Rolf) and therefore our somewhat older lions (Wim and Piet) didn’t. Just for fun they rode back to the top of the Sierra Nevada before lunch.
In the afternoon we all enjoyed Alhambra in our own way.
Some of us visited the old castle of Alhambra. Originally designed as a military area, the Alhambra became the residence of royalty and of the court of Granada in the middle of the thirteenth century.
Others enjoyed the world famous Alhambra beer on a café terrace in the old center of Granada. But regardless what we did and how much we enjoyed it, our thoughts were with Ilse... Our fifteenth biker and former colleague Ilse Govaert.
Ilse was diagnosed with cancer in early 2011. She passed away much too soon on 1 December 2011 at the age of 44, leaving her husband Peter, her daughters Marion and Laure behind. We ride for her. In memoriam of Ilse, the Deloitte Cycling Partners will donate all funds collected to Fondation contre le Cancer / Stichting tegen Kanker.
Therefore please help us make this a big success and sponsor our tour.
Today no picture from us, today Ilse is the winner.
