SOS Children’s Villages

The primary activity of this global organisation is setting up and running safe and caring villages for orphans and other children lacking a real home. We provide ongoing support for two SOS Children's Villages projects.

One, in Belgium, is the Leaving Care Project, set up with SOS Children's Village Chantevent in Bande. It helps young people make the transition from Village to young adult life. Deloitte pays for training, living expenses and visits from social and educational specialists. The second project is in Rwanda, at the SOS Technical High School Kigali. It offers nearly 200 students training in accountancy, computer science, electricity and carpentry.  Deloitte subsidises 30 young people for a period of six years so they can complete their education.

Held at the King Baudouin Stadium in Brussels on a sunny Saturday in June 2010, Impact Day brought together Deloitte employees and their families for a festive day of fun, sport and fundraising for SOS Children's Villages projects.

Money was raised through a variety of sporting activities for all ages, especially a run where Deloitte pledged a contribution for each metre. Inspiration came from two SOS Children's Villages ambassadors who joined us, athletics champion Kim Gevaert and singing star Ronny Mosuse. In all, Impact Day raised €85,000.
