Domination of Croatian companies on Deloitte's Adria Top 100 list
Adria Top 100
Croatian companies dominate by number on the annual Adria Top 100 list by Deloitte. This year’s list has 35 companies from Croatia, followed by 31 company from Slovenia, 23 from Serbia, six from Bosnia-Herzegovina, four from Macedonia and one from Montenegro. Leading place on the regional list is held by Croatian Agrokor Group, which had more than 3.6 billion euro revenue from sales in 2009. Agrokor is followed by another Croatian representative, INA Group, which had more than 2.7 billion euro revenue from sales. Among the Top 10 companies are (by order on the list): Mercator Group, Petrol Group, Delta, EPS, HEP Group, Revoz, NIS and Gorenje Group. It can be concluded that the leading positions are taken by companies from energy and resources industry, and retail. Slovenian automobile manufacturer Revoz is the only manufacturing company among Top 10 players in the region.
Retail companies have most representatives on the list, and the most significant percentage share when considering revenue from sales (35 per cent), showing thus this industry’s resilience towards economic turmoil that left its mark on the region during the last year. Largest number of Croatian companies (13) belongs to retail sector, while Slovenian companies dominate by number in manufacturing, and Serbian companies in energy and resources.
“Revenue from sales in 2009 have fallen by 12 percent when comparing to the previous year. This is obviously the result of slower economic activities as a reflection of the global economy crisis, but also of the depreciation of some local currencies in relation to Euro,” says Vladimir Milošević, Partner in Deloitte. Most significant drop in revenue from sales is visible in manufacturing, 23.7 percent.
Deloitte has also published list of the Top 10 companies by net profit, which shows significantly different picture of the regional leading players than Adria Top 100. Leading on this list are two telecomm operators, HT Group and Telekom Serbia. HT Group had net profit of 276 million Euro in 2009.
