John Womack leads Deloitte’s Tax practice nationally.
John has been with Deloitte member firms for 21 years, spending time in Houston, Prague, Detroit and now Sydney, making his career in international tax truly international. His previous roles include managing the tax practice in the Czech Republic, Partner-In-Charge (International Tax), North Central, the National Tax Managing Partner for Manufacturing, US Firm Board Council Member and Regional Managing Partner – Strategic Client Services, Great Lakes. John has an industry focus on heavy manufacturing, life sciences and retail, and over his career he has specialised in international taxation focused on US-based multinationals.
John’s areas of expertise include:

- Tax-aligned supply chain planning
- International tax accounting
- International and domestic tax due diligence
- US foreign tax credit planning
- Cross-border financing structures
- Repatriation strategies.
John arrived in Australia in September 2009, to lead a team of over 650 Tax partners and staff, and is enjoying our climate – the sunshine makes a change after 14 years in Detroit. He’s enjoying travelling around and exploring the great Australian outdoors and learning about Australian sports. When John’s not in the office in a suit, you might find him underwater in a scuba diving suit, or on the golf course – and all this energetic activity without ever having drunk a cup of coffee in his life!
