In this week’s Tax highlights we feature:
- Bills introduced: Several tax-related Bills have been introduced into Parliament including legislation to amend the tax consolidation tax cost setting and rights to future income rules and to introduce the proposed transfer pricing reforms
- Review of permanent establishment attribution rules: The Government has asked the Board of Taxation to consider the advantages and disadvantages of Australia adopting the OECD ‘functionally separate entity’ approach towards the attribution of profits to permanent establishments
- ATO Rulings: The ATO has updated its Public Rulings Program and several final tax determinations and rulings are scheduled for release in June, including a tax ruling on the assessment and franking of dividends in compliance with section 254T of the Corporations Act 2001.
