Risk Intelligence in the age of global uncertainty

Risk Intelligence Series, no.2

risk intelligence

Recent years have seen a wave of diverse and potentially catastrophic threats headline the news. Organisations have sought to face - or risk the charge of negligence - everything from avian flu and other potential pandemics, tsunamis and other natural disasters, and both direct and indirect attacks in the physical world and cyberspace.

In response to the resultant 'risk fatigue' as organisations seek to distinguish the real dangers from the imagined, Deloitte & Touche LLP has released this whitepaper, 'Risk Intelligence in the Age of Global Uncertainty'. Among the recommendations contained in this paper is for organisations to concentrate less on the cause, and more on the impact, of a major disruptive event. This is in recognition of the reality that, while an enormous number of potential threats to organisations exist, a much smaller range of impacts or effects are likely to result. Focus on these consequences provides manageable and effective outcomes for the organisation's risk management.
