The skills shortage remains a major constraint holding back the Australian economy. A CEO Survey conducted by the Australian Industry Group and Deloitte finds that the shortage is also hampering innovation and performance in Australia.
 
Deloitte's  Gerhard Vorster says that the 492 CEOs in manufacturing, construction and services industry participating in the survey, rate innovation as the third most important element after competitiveness and growth.
