Client success stories

We were engaged by a large Australian bank (name withheld for subjudice purposes) with international operations to perform a review of a significant number of commercial transactions to ascertain whether there had been any breaches of global economic and trade sanction obligations. Utilising sophisticated data analytical techniques to filter thousands of transactions we then applied specialist technical and commercial knowledge to highlight potential breaches for legal assessment. The work performed over a period of 15 months expanded to include global training of executives and operational personnel of the obligations. We also examined the weaknesses in the control infrastructure that allowed the alleged breaches to occur and developed target operating models for the bank to deploy. The work was considered by the client to be of the highest standard and the testimony from the Chief Financial Officer was as follows:

“We have been making increasing use of Deloitte and find them to be a viable alternative to PwC and Ernst & Young and in some areas actually emerging as clear leaders. One example of this would be the first class work they have done for us on the trade sanction matter where their forensic skills and practical knowledge of the trade sanctions has been very valuable.”
