James is a senior partner with over 23 years of professional experience in Australia, the UK, Europe and Asia. James has been a partner for 14 years, initially in Australia from 1999 and then in London from 2006. James returned to Sydney in September 2012 to take direct leadership of our Infrastructure M&A business in the growing Australian market. In June 2013, James was appointed National Head of our M&A Transactions Group, encompassing our combined transaction services, valuations and corporate finance advisory teams.

James’ area of deep industry specialisation is infrastructure investment, where he is well known as one of the leading advisors for due diligence and structuring advice to global and regional financial investors looking to deploy long term capital in operating transport and energy infrastructure assets.

James is also the current global leader for Deloitte covering infrastructure M&A as part of our wider Infrastructure and Capital Programs Industry Group. In this role, James continues to oversee the market facing initiatives of our specialist Deloitte teams in Sydney and London and more recently Toronto and New York.

Some of James’ major clients over his time as a transaction services partner in Sydney and London have included; Macquarie Group, RREEF Infrastructure, Allianz Capital Partners, Colonial First State Investments, Global Infrastructure Partners, Canada Pension Plan Investments Board, Abu Dhabi Investment Authority, Morgan Stanley Infrastructure Partners, JP Morgan Infrastructure Investments, AMP Capital Investors, Infracapital, Marubeni and InfraRed Capital Partners.

James is married with five children between the ages of 15 and 1, whose competing priorities take up a lot of his spare time. He also enjoys travel, spending time with his wife, playing golf and is an avid rugby union supporter.
