Deloitte partners, David Lombe and Simon Cathro, were appointed as voluntary administrators of 39 companies under the umbrella of the Australian Discount Retail Group (ADR Group) on 20 January 2009. In addition, John Melluish and James Stewart of Ferrier Hodgson were appointed as Receivers and Managers of the ADR Group on 20 January 2009. Subsequently, on 25 November 2009 at concurrent meetings of the creditors of the ADR Group entities, David Lombe and Simon Cathro were appointed Liquidators by resolution of the respective creditors of each of the ADR Group entities. Prior to the Voluntary Administration and Receivership the ADR Group was Australia’s largest discount variety retailer with 402 stores around the country, employing approximately 2,700 permanent employees. The Receivers and Managers continued to trade the business and advertised the business for sale. The sale of the ADR Group (including Chickenfeed) to Retail Adventures Pty Ltd was announced on 23 March 2009. |
