Ian is the Lead Partner of Deloitte’s Strategy and Operation Practice in the Asia Pacific Region, Managing Partner of Deloitte’s Strategy and Operations Practice in Australia, a member of Deloitte’s Global Strategy & Operations Executive Committee, the Lead Partner for Deloitte’s Consulting Practice in Victoria and a Member of the Board of Partners of Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu [“DTT”] Australia. Ian also serves as a member of the Audit and Remuneration Sub-committees of the DTT Australia’s Board of Partners.
In addition to his leadership responsibilities, Ian consults to some of the Australia’s largest entities, primarily on the topics of strategy and growth.
Outside of his Deloitte responsibilities, Ian is a member of the Board of Advanced Paediatric Life Support (Australia) Pty Ltd [“APLS”], a not for profit organisation committed to the advancement of paediatric care outcomes in emergency circumstances. Ian is also the Chair of the Board Audit Sub-committee of APLS.
Skills and expertise
During a professional career of over 25 years, Ian has developed a keen perspective on the challenges of driving change in large organisations, both as a consultant and a senior executive in a top 10 Australian retailer. Ian has regularly worked with Board’s and Senior Executive Teams in some of the country’s largest public and private sector organisations.
The majority of Ian’s work during this time has been focussed on helping leading organisations deliver measurable improvements in the achievement of their strategic objectives through practical and pragmatic organisational and business solutions. Ian’s work has primarily been focussed on industries where a clear understanding of the customer is paramount. Ian’s work experience spans from strategy in the boardroom to detailed front line operational improvement.
Relevant professional experience
Ian serves as both a line Partner serving clients and as a practice leader within Deloitte. Relevant examples Ian’s recent client experiences include:
- Working with the Board and Executive of Australia’s pre-eminent publically funded research organisation of their 2020 Vision and 2015 Strategic Plan
- Reporting to the Board of one of Australia’s largest pharmaceutical companies on changes to a major area of functional operation
- Advising a Forbes 500 Company on their negotiation of a major alliance programme
- Assisting a leading mining organisation with the post merger integration of a recent acquisition.
In addition, in his 10 years with Deloitte, Ian has served as Lead Client Service Partner for some of the Australian practice’s largest clients.
