Elaine joined Deloitte from KPMG where she had been a Director for KPMG Actuaries since 2001. Previously, Elaine ran her own actuarial consulting/contracting business (1991-2001) and, prior to that, Elaine was an actuarial analyst and consultant in the General Insurance practice of Trowbridge Tillinghast (1986-1991).
Elaine has expertise in providing and leading a wide variety of General Insurance advice, including:
- Role of Approved Actuary in Australia for up to four authorised general insurers and Appointed Actuary in Singapore for up to three general insurers and reinsurers
- Actuary for a licensed self insurer, and undertaking self insurance feasibility studies for a number of corporate clients
- Valuations for outstanding claims and premium liabilities, evaluating risk margins, providing estimates at various levels of sufficiency to self insurers and general insurers for a comprehensive range of classes of general insurance business
- Capital requirement calculations and other general insurance advice regarding new prudential regulation regimes
- Liquidation work, undertaking valuations, investigations into historical actuarial advice, statutory returns and accounting
- Actuarial assistance to audit of insurance liabilities arising from small mono-line to large multi-line, multi-license insurers
- Analysis of insurance business of potential targets for mergers and acquisitions assignments.
Elaine manages actuarial teams on large client assignments and has considerable involvement in the management of the GI practice. Elaine holds significant roles in the actuarial profession, with particular involvement in the drafting of professional standards applicable to general insurance.
