KD Johns & Co join forces with Deloitte Private in PerthDOWNLOAD
1 August 2014: Leading professional services firm Deloitte announced today a significant investment in Western Australia, with boutique tax and business advisory firm KD Johns & Co joining its Perth office to help service the rapidly growing needs of the high net worth individuals and families, private and family businesses and not for profit (NFP) entities in this key region.
Specialising in serving many of Western Australia’s wealthiest families and leading private companies, the KD Johns & Co team - four directors who will join as partners and 15 staff – will join Deloitte Private Perth effective 1 October 2014.
Deloitte WA Office Managing Partner Michael McNulty welcomed the new team and said that the transaction highlighted the strong growth of Deloitte Private in Western Australia and the ongoing commitment of Deloitte to the West Australian market.
“KD Johns & Co has excellent local market credentials and its focus on providing high quality service to its impressive client base makes it a perfect fit for our growing Deloitte Private practice,” Mr McNulty said.
“I am pleased to welcome Keith Johns, Martina Crowley, Marc Worley and Shane Cassey to the Partnership.
“With Western Australia forecast to remain the fastest growing economy in Australia over the next decade, we believe Deloitte Private will be a significant contributor to our growth. This investment further highlights our commitment to the private market in Perth.
David Hill, Deloitte Private National Managing Partner, commented: “Following our recent announcement of Moore Stephens Sydney West joining our Western Sydney office and the recent launch of Deloitte Private Connect, our cloud accounting, automated bookkeeping and benchmarking offering, this is a very important investment for us.”
“We are delighted to be joining forces with the KD Johns & Co directors to deliver high value professional services to the growing number of high net worth families in this fast growing region of the Australian economy,” he said.
KD Johns & Co Managing Director Keith Johns, who will now lead the Deloitte Private Perth tax practice, said he was attracted by a strong cultural fit and increased growth opportunities for both clients and members of the team.
“The focus of Deloitte Private strongly aligns with the philosophy of KD Johns & Co, and will allow our clients to benefit from the breadth and depth of professional services which won Deloitte both the Accounting and Audit firm of the year in 2013,” Mr Johns said.
“I’m particularly excited about the innovative cloud accounting offering Deloitte Private Connect, and the access it will give my clients to Deloitte’s online portal and automated bookkeeping and benchmarking solutions.
In an increasingly competitive world this will help businesses leverage technology and cloud-based solutions so they can operate and manage their businesses more efficiently and cost effectively.” Deloitte Private launched in Perth in June 2013 under the leadership of Michael Gastevich with three partners and 23 staff. This practice has grown significantly since this time and will now consist of 9 partners and 48 staff, bringing the Deloitte Perth office to a total of 56 partners and 520 staff. Nationally Deloitte Private now has in excess of 1000 people including 107 partners across most states and territories.
Today’s announcement follows the February 2014 news that 10 partners and 54 staff from Moore Stephens Sydney West had joined Deloitte Private’s Western Sydney Office.
