Deloitte appoints new ChairmanDOWNLOAD
14 February 2013: Deloitte Australia announced today that its Board had appointed a new chairman, Keith Jones to be effective following the retirement of its current Chairman, Wayne Goss on June 1, 2013.
Currently Managing Partner of Deloitte’s Western Australia office and leader of its Energy & Resources (E&R) industry group, Keith Jones recently announced his retirement from the firm in May 2013 and is considering a number of Directorship roles.
Mr Jones is also currently a member of the Deloitte Australia Board as well as leading the firm’s China Services Group in Australia. He will transition these roles over the next few months.
Mr Goss said: “Keith has been an audit and corporate advisory partner with the firm since 1985. He took over the leadership of the West Australian practice in 1998, and ten years later the leadership of one of our largest national industry groups, our fast growing E&R practice as well as our China Services Group, managing significant inward investment flows from the Middle Kingdom.
“Keith has been an outstanding leader of the Perth practice, growing the business from approximately 100 to over 500 employees, with revenues exceeding $110m in the FY2012/13, while also leading the substantial growth of the firm’s national E&R practice.
“Keith will provide the strong governance and support our Board has always given to the firm and its leadership.”
In response Keith Jones said: “I look forward to continuing my close relationship with Deloitte.
“In what has been a challenging and volatile business environment, Wayne Goss’ tenure as Chairman of Deloitte over the last eight years, has built a very different professional services organisation under the leadership of CEO Giam Swiegers.
“While I believe we are well positioned to help our clients respond to the rapidly evolving business landscape, the challenge will be to keep our partners focussed on the key issues, while maintaining the organisational agility so critical for success in today’s market,” he said.
