Deloitte appoints new financial services technology leaderDOWNLOAD
Monday 3 September 2012: As companies increasingly compete in a global playing field they need to transform into service oriented enterprises collaborating with partners in an eco-system if they are to improve their market share, according to Maickel Sweekhorst, Deloitte’s newly appointed leader for the firm’s Consulting Financial Services Technology group.
The FS Technology leader also believes that companies need to decide whether to become differentiators or factories aiming for operational excellence. “This is a real business demand which will transform IT departments in their search for improving time-to-market and reducing costs,” he said.
It is this approach to transformation that has defined Sweekhorst’s 25+ year career in project management, advising IT departments and realising IT solutions. For the past 12 years he has mainly focussed on financial services, their productivity improvement and business alignment.
“In financial services the winners will be those that are able to deliver a good experience for every interaction with customers, regardless of channel.” Adding that: “They are able to do this best if they leverage the value of their data."
“Maickel is a natural fit for Deloitte and we are excited to have him join the firm and lead our Consulting FS Technology group,” said Robert Hillard, Deloitte National Technology Lead Partner Consulting.
“Maickel’s most recent role was Vice President and Managing Director FS Australia/NZ Capgemini Australia, where he mainly focussed on financial institutions, their productivity improvement and business alignment.”
Maickel Sweekhorst is married with three daughters. A passionate fly fisherman, he plays golf, tennis and field hockey and is a member of the advisory board for Dutchlink in Sydney.
