Closure of Camelia Court aged care facility
Residents to be relocated to alternative accommodationDOWNLOAD
Shamrock Nursing Home Pty Ltd
(Administrators Appointed) (Receivers and Managers Appointed)
Deloitte partners Simon Wallace-Smith and Tim Norman were appointed as Receivers and Managers to Shamrock Nursing Home Pty Ltd on 18 June 2009.
The Receivers and Managers have attempted to sell the Camelia Court aged care facility as a going concern, however, despite significant market exposure, no suitable offers have been received for this facility, leaving the Receivers and Managers with little option but to cease trading.
“Our preference would have been to sell this business as a going concern. However, we received very little interest for this business during the marketing campaign,” said Mr Wallace-Smith.
“The closure of this facility is driven by commercial considerations and not as a result of care related issues. Given the financial position of this facility, we now have no alternative but to commence an orderly wind down of the business. This will unfortunately adversely affect some 40 residents and their dedicated staff,” he said.
The Receivers have notified the Department of Health and Ageing of the decision to close by 31 January 2010 and have commenced discussions with residents and employees regarding the options available to them. The Receivers will continue to engage with the Department throughout the notice period to ensure an orderly relocation of all affected residents to alternative accommodation.
“This decision has not been made lightly. We understand the hardship this will cause both residents, their families and staff,” said Mr Wallace-Smith. “The Receivers and staff will continue to do as much as they can to help residents with their search for new accommodation,” he said.
“We would also like to acknowledge the continued support received by the dedicated staff in this difficult time.”
