ACT businesses awarded for success by Canberra BusinessPointDOWNLOAD
Friday, June 25 2010: The 2010 Canberra BusinessPoint winners were recognised at the third annual Canberra BusinessPoint Gala Dinner and Awards ceremony at 10 Richmond Avenue, Fairbairn, Canberra.
Each year the Canberra BusinessPoint Awards gives prominence to new firms and new entrepreneurs in a thriving small business community. The award winners come from the region’s vast array of industries and businesses, and they all continue to provide inspiration to other local businesses in striving towards excellence.
According to Deloitte Private Director, Mark Allsop, this year’s winners showed extraordinary resilience and drive during challenging economic conditions.
”These Awards highlight a third very successful year of Canberra BusinessPoint and the enormous opportunities that have been provided to Canberra’s business community. It is wonderful that so many ACT based businesses have taken advantage of the range of services and skills provided by the Canberra BusinessPoint team at Deloitte Private,” said Mr Allsop.
The Awards have recognised and rewarded the significant achievements of SME’s in the ACT & region with special recognition from Chief Minister Jon Stanhope. There are four categories in the 2010 Canberra BusinessPoint Gala & Awards which are:
• Innovation and Commercialisation
• Business Plan development
• Sales Growth
• Emerging Entrepreneur.
The 2010 winners in the four categories were:
Innovation & Commercialisation – Random Computing Services Pty Ltd
Business Plan development– Daily Market
Sales Growth – Lucy Media
Emerging Entrepreneur – Zambrero Fresh Mex Grill
Enterprise of the Year – Lucy Media – who had the most outstanding entry overall from all the entries submitted.
“I congratulate all winners, especially the 2010 Canberra BusinessPoint Enterprise of the Year, Lucy Media who proved themselves a very worthy winner of this award in the face of such tight competition,” added Mr Allsop.
Lucy Media is a media and entertainment company based in the ACT, Australia. They own and operate a portfolio of websites - with a focus on entertainment, arts, business, politics and sport. Most of their readers are based in the US, Canada and the UK, with a smaller proportion in Australia.
The Canberra BusinessPoint program was launched in July 2007. The innovative and free service is designed to deliver end-to-end advisory services for start-up businesses, young businesses, entrepreneurs, exporters and established enterprises. Canberra BusinessPoint is an ACT Government funded program developed and facilitated by Deloitte.
The Awards theme was ‘Going Places – Connecting businesses for success’ which created an “air and take flight theme” throughout the event and also included a highly anticipated paper aeroplane throwing competition.
