Deloitte Digital opens up a direct line to governmentDOWNLOAD
Wednesday July 7: Online professional services specialist, Deloitte Digital has launched an online reporting system that simplifies the way that businesses submit information to the Australian Taxation Office (ATO), Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC), and State Revenue offices. This leverages the capabilities delivered by the standard business reporting program.
Deloitte Digital Director, Bevan McLeod said “GovDirect™ provides businesses with a single view of all their reporting obligations. At the same time it minimises the pain of meeting your compliance obligations and provides peace of mind that the correct data has reached its intended destination.”
Using GovDirect™ companies that lodge information with the ATO for example, will find that much of their data will be pre-filled automatically. As they click to submit their tax, payroll or accounting information for a particular ATO form, such as a Business Activity Statement, the system will check, validate and provide an e-receipt upon successful lodgement.
“At the moment finance teams are constantly switching back and forth between their in-house accounting system and the relevant agency’s portal or form”, continued Mr McLeod.
“Many of the forms businesses are required to complete are accessible via an online portal or in a hardcopy format. GovDirect eliminates the need to keep separate logins for each portal and you no longer need to request a paper form to meet your compliance responsibilities. It’s all managed online.”
According to Mr McLeod, “With the affordability of software as a service and secure encryption system, meeting compliance obligations via snail mail borders on the ridiculous".
“It leads to errors, security concerns and can be very resource intensive. Often the only time that a mistake is picked up is when a company is audited and by then it can be too late or very expensive to rectify.”
Deloitte Digital, the online service delivery arm of professional services firm Deloitte, has worked collaboratively with Business Driven Systems to bring GovDirect™ to market in support of the Standard Business Reporting Program. The SBR programme is a federally funded initiative designed to cut red tape for business.
GovDirect™ will operate as an extension to commonly used accounting systems, such as MYOB and QuickBooks as well as Deloitte’s own online accounting solution.
The application will be available for download at www.govdirect.com.au in time for the submission of the June BAS later this month. Users will be able to trial the service for 30 days at no cost, after that subscriptions start at $99 per year.
