Deloitte appoints new leader to drive Western Sydney growth strategyDOWNLOAD
5 April 2013: Deloitte announced today that the leadership of the Western Sydney office will transition to senior partner and leader of Deloitte’s national Motor Industry Services group, Danny Rezek.
Mr Rezek is well known in Western Sydney having originally relocated with his family from Melbourne to take up a role in the automotive sector based at Wetherill Park 17 years ago.
A former managing director of Jaguar Australia, he oversaw the strategic integration of luxury car brands Jaguar, Land Rover and Volvo in 2002. Two years later, Mr Rezek took his deep automotive experience to Horwarth Motor Industry Services where he continued to build his reputation around strong client service and understanding of the local, national, Asia Pacific and Chinese automotive industry and retail dealer networks.
In 2007 Mr Rezek and the rest of the Motor Industry Services team joined Deloitte when it acquired Horwarth.
Pete Forrester commented: “Over the last few years the Western Sydney office has achieved one of the fastest growth rates among all 14 regional Deloitte offices, with a compound annual growth rate of greater than 15%.
Danny Rezek said: “I’m delighted to take on the new leadership role and as a regionally based partner it’s great to see Pete’s success recognised by his elevation to the Deloitte national executive. I remain committed to my existing clients and look forward to helping the rest of the team to focus on enabling their client’s success.”
“Having recently doubled our floor space by moving into the new Eclipse tower, I am looking forward to building on the success that Pete has overseen and double headcount by 2015, becoming a 500 strong practice to support the growing Western Sydney region.”
Last month the growth was particularly visible as 19 new graduates arrived at the firm’s new Western Sydney headquarters.
Mr Rezek continued, “Not only is Western Sydney the growth centre for New South Wales, in recent years it has become a key growth engine for Deloitte. This growth has been made possible by the great talent that we’ve found locally and those who we have attracted to Parramatta from around Australia and beyond.”
“As our clients grow we grow with them, and that brings opportunities for our talent to develop professionally. Whether it’s last month’s new graduates in their first full time role or seasoned directors who have relocated to fast track their progress to partner, Western Sydney’s diverse economy is a great place to build a successful career,” concluded Mr Rezek.
After eight years leading the Deloitte Western Sydney practice Pete Forrester has been promoted to the Deloitte national executive and appointed as Regional Managing Partner, responsible for all Deloitte offices outside Sydney and Melbourne.
Deloitte’s regional practices across WA, Queensland, Western Sydney, SA, NT, Tasmania, ACT and PNG now contribute over a third of the firm’s revenue and profit.
Commenting on his new role, Mr Forrester said, “Over the past three years, the regions have achieved a compound annual growth rate of 12% as the firm has invested heavily in our regional strategy.”
“We are seeing fantastic momentum in all our regional practices driven by the tailwinds of the resources boom, the scaling up of our Government business, the investment in our middle market offering and the major capital projects being undertaken in Queensland and WA. The regions are also ideal markets for our Deloitte Private brand, where we are experiencing strong growth,” said Mr Forrester.
“One of my first priorities will be to visit each region and work with each Office Managing Partner on their five year strategic plans,” continued Mr Forrester. “Deloitte will continue to invest in its regional practices to maintain momentum and we will explore complementary acquisitions and new markets if we see opportunities.”
This is the 31st year that Deloitte has had an office in Parramatta serving public and private sector clients.
