Caring for older Australians - Productivity Commission draft report |
On Friday, January 21, the Productivity Commission (PC) issued its much anticipated draft report into ‘Caring for Older Australians’.
An initial review of the document reveals a comprehensive and well argued report, clearly outlining the considerations made by the PC across the 42 recommendations. The report is written in the context of an ageing population and the current aged care system which is seen by many as a complex, unsustainable and inequitable system.
The PC agrees with many of the submissions made that Australia’s aged care system is in need of fundamental reform. Deloitte, in conjunction with the Aged Care Association of Australia prepared a detailed submission on behalf of industry and this contribution is cited within the draft report.
