Tax highlights

12 August 2013

In this week's Tax highlights we feature:

  • Minerals Resource Rent Tax (MRRT) held to be constitutional: The High Court has unanimously dismissed proceedings brought by a taxpayer that certain provisions of the MRRT were not constitutionally valid

  • The Western Australian 2013-14 Budget was delivered last week and includes a significant funding boost to the Office of State Revenue to improve compliance with payroll tax and duties, as well as increases in land tax rates and the payroll tax exemption threshold

  • Pre-election Economic and Fiscal Outlook report expected on the Treasury website this Tuesday 13 August.

Plus we provide our synopsis of the latest legislative developments, cases, announcements, and ATO information and releases.
