Deloitte acquires Vigilant – a market leading cyber security services business
Vigilant acquisition adds to Deloitte’s world leading security practice, positioning Deloitte as the cyber threat consultancyDOWNLOAD
3 June 2013: Deloitte has strengthened its cyber security capabilities through the acquisition of substantially all of the assets of Vigilant Inc., a specialist security monitoring and cyber threat intelligence business.
Deloitte has already been recognised by Forrester Research Inc. as a leader and the largest information security consulting organisation in the world, and the Deloitte & Touche LLP acquisition of Vigilant Inc. will provide additional information, consulting, and managed services to help organisations detect and respond to the world’s emerging cyber threats. The combined practices will operate under the Vigilant by Deloitte brand.
“Cyber risk is a top technology priority for businesses here and around the world,” Tommy Viljoen National Security and Resilience Lead at Deloitte Australia said. “The acquisition of Vigilant and its suite of cyber threat management services absolutely complements Deloitte’s security consulting practice enhancing our cyber threat offerings.”
Viljoen said: “The reality is no organisation is 100% safe from a security breach. Businesses need to assume a breach will happen and prepare accordingly. Their focus needs to shift from pure prevention to detection and response planning, with the goal of creating a resilient organisation that can bounce back quickly from attacks.”
The acquisition of Vigilant expands Deloitte’s ability to provide customised security solutions to clients in financial services, defence, retail, manufacturing, TMT, energy, and pharmaceuticals.
Ed Powers, principal and national leader of Deloitte & Touche LLP’s Security & Privacy practice, who will lead the Vigilant by Deloitte cyber threat management services said: “The severity of cyber threats has elevated the profile of security and increased the complexity of protecting information and critical infrastructure. The complementary nature of Deloitte’s and Vigilant’s businesses will expand our capability to deliver world-class, customised cyber threat management services to our clients.”
Vigilant Chief Executive Officer and President, Alison Andrews, noted, “After a decade of delivering innovative security monitoring solutions for global 1,000 clients, we couldn’t be happier than to continue our mission as part of a world-renowned organisation like Deloitte.”
