Deloitte in Papua New Guinea (PNG) has recently promoted three people to partner to cater for increased revenue growth.
The new partners are, Ernie Gangloff, Kirsty Laird and Bouke Wagenaar. Deloitte in PNG now has 7 partners and 135 people and is focused on clients across the following industries:
Paul Barber, Office Managing Partner of PNG, said: “These promotions are fully deserved and reflect the developing business environment in PNG and the increasing demand for services and the more complex and varied nature of those services.”
“There is a greater demand for advisory and consulting services as well as the more traditional compliance services and we are changing our structure to meet those demands. 3 partners deserve promotion and will help our office increase revenue as well as lead and develop dynamic teams,” added Mr Barber.
David Murray, National Leader of Deloitte Private and a senior leader in PNG has assisted in growing Deloitte’s PNG office over the last seven years.
“It is fabulous to witness our office experience such strong growth and provide opportunities to promote hard working people to partners within PNG,” said Mr Murray.
“Revenue in PNG has increased by 27% over the last 12 months and we are targeting substantial further growth for the 2011/12 financial year, These promotions position us ideally for additional growth across the firm but most markedly within our citizen staff.” added Mr Murray.
Ernie joined the Deloitte in 2002 and has spent most of his time with the firm in a Risk Services role where he gained skills in the public sector financial management, risk management, internal audit, funds management, compliance and financial management services. He has a passion for mentoring staff , developing teams and capacity building with PNG staff.
Ernie is Papua New Guinean and graduated in 1982 with a Bachelor of Technology degree from PNG University of Technology.
Kirsty joined Deloitte PNG in 2005 providing a range of accounting, risk management and internal audit advisory services to both private and public sector clients.
Prior to joining Deloitte, Kirsty was a consultant in a variety of roles and projects in Australia and the South Pacific, with a focus on capacity building, governance, training, corporate projects, reengineering business processes and the application of organisational controls.
Kirsty is an expert in the area of risk management, and facilitating the complex risk assessment process for the whole of an organisation. In addition, her focus on strategic management and the formulation of strategic plans complements her risk assessment expertise in providing the client with a holistic approach to mitigating risk within the organisation and achieving its key objectives.
Bouke has over five year experience as a tax agent and tax advisor in Papua New Guinea. He services a wide range of domestic and multinational corporate clients across various sectors in financial services, telecommunication and resources industries. Foreign contractor taxation and taxation of international labour are among his interests.
Bouke transferred to the Papua New Guinea office in July 2006 and has built up a strong tax division with over 15 professional staff. He has extensive knowledge of the full ranges of PNG taxes
Before moving to PNG, Bouke gained ten years experience in the highly sophisticated Dutch tax practice of Deloitte in the Netherlands where he led teams serving a number of major multinational companies.
Demonstrating advanced analytical skills he published in the Dutch and international tax literature on tax technical issues. He was chairman and faculty member of Deloitte Europe’s International Corporate Tax Planning Training Course for many years. Bouke developed unique tax advisory skills through an extensive training program on Tax Decision Management, a methodology unique in the financial services industry. In Amsterdam he developed tax risk management and tax accounting services, providing services to major listed Dutch multinationals.
