Deloitte appoints new WA Managing PartnerDOWNLOAD
25 January 2013: Professional services firm Deloitte is pleased to announce Perth Consulting partner Michael McNulty has been appointed as WA Managing Partner to replace Keith Jones, who will be retiring as a Partner of Deloitte on 31 May 2013.
Under the succession plan, Michael will lead the Perth office of more than 500 staff and maintain his leadership of Deloitte’s Consulting practice in WA.
Michael has 20 years’ of consulting experience and currently leads the Perth Consulting practice which consists of 11 partners and more than 130 consultants spanning Strategy and Operations, Human Capital, Enterprise Information Management and Technology Advisory.
Michael, who commenced his professional services career in an audit role, has worked for major private and public sector clients in Australia, Asia, UK, USA and Africa, with a focus on the energy and resources sector. He specialises in large-scale transformation and business improvement projects and has also led major technology change programs. Michael leads Deloitte’s Major Capital Projects initiative in Australia and has provided services to many of the largest capital projects being undertaken in the Australian resources industry.
Michael also leads the national Products Industry Group within Consulting, consisting of 40 partners and over 400 professionals. This industry group includes mining, oil and gas, utilities, infrastructure, consumer products and retail clients. He is a member of the national consulting executive and is the Consulting Energy and Resources leader in Asia Pacific and is a member of the Global Mining Leadership Team.
Chief Executive Officer of Deloitte in Australia Giam Swiegers said Keith’s leadership was well recognised within the national partnership.
“On behalf of the Deloitte Partners, I would like to acknowledge Keith’s drive and the success he has achieved. We wish him well with his future endeavours,” Mr Swiegers said.
Keith said Michael’s appointment was part of an ongoing succession plan for the WA office.
“I am grateful for the tremendous opportunities within Deloitte over my 38 year career with this tremendous team and I am delighted to be able to pass on leadership of the WA team to Michael McNulty who has led our very successful consulting business in WA for the past five years,” Mr Jones said.
“For Deloitte in WA, this represents an evolution not a revolution. Following my retirement in May 2013, I will commence in a number of other Directorship roles as part of my own career progression.”
Mr Jones is a member of the Deloitte Board and is also the leader of Energy & Resources for Deloitte in Australia and the China Services Group in Australia. He will transition these roles over the next few months.
Mr McNulty said Keith had set the bar high in ensuring the growth of the Western Australia office.
“In 1998, Keith was appointed Managing Partner of Deloitte in Western Australia. He has been an outstanding leader of the Perth practice, growing the business from a base of approximately 100 employees to be Deloitte’s largest, fastest growing and most profitable practice in the regions, with revenues exceeding $110m in the FY2012/13 and over 500 employees,” Mr McNulty said.
