With the carbon tax now in place in Australia and emissions reductions schemes widespread around the globe, telecommunication companies have further reason to reduce their own emissions. However they also have an opportunity to develop significant revenue streams by helping other industries to also reduce emissions.
This short paper details five areas of opportunity as a starting point for telecommunications companies to give thought to the revenue-potential side of the emission equation. These include opportunities in the stationary energy, road transport and residential property sectors, as well as in commuter transport and ICT functions more generally.
